Is there a missing link in rheumatoid
arthritis (RA) management? |
Missing links in RA management, which can lead to suboptimal disease control,
were the focus for rheumatology experts at the LiBRA 2019 educational event
which took place on 19–21 September in Budapest, Hungary. The event, chaired by
Prof. Janet Pope and Prof. Ernest Choy, included an international faculty of 11
rheumatology and behavioural science experts. Discussions highlighted multiple
missing links in RA management that contribute to suboptimal disease control –
biological factors (disease phenotype; predictive biomarkers), systemic factors
(referral/assessment delays), patient behaviour (lifestyle, adherence), disease
activity assessment (choice of measurement tools), HCP behaviour (clinical inertia),
the patient-physician disconnect, and more. |
